I love accounts of Sherlock’s personal admiration and gratefulness towards John. John is heart-warmingly paternal and Sherlock just succumbs to him; it’s gratifying to see Sherlock taken care of like this. It is very sweet and emotional until Sherlock finds a certain heart-breaking item in John’s room and then everything falls apart, but is somehow still all right.

When I know there’s a twist I can’t help but try work it out as I read. I can usually guess the ending, but for some reason I did definitely not see this coming!

I absolutely love this idea of a split perspective. Written as a kink-meme fill for this request. Sherlock and John are at the pool (presumably the end of The Great Game), and in his mind, Sherlock jumps years ahead to a peaceful life with John. The fic is written in short passages, alternating between the 2 timelines, and is filled with amazingly vivid imagery. The transitions are flawless. And there is a bonus in the form of gorgeous accompanying artwork. I’m all praises for the author’s creativity on this one.

I think this is one of my top 10 fics. It had me crying my eyes out but the writing and idea are amazing. Don’t miss the epilogues!
